The School Day

Entrance Foyer/School office

The entrance foyer /school office is at the front of the main school building and is sign posted. The door to the foyer is locked for security reasons but there is a buzzer on the door. Please allow a few moments for the door to be answered.

Dropping Off

To ease parking in the mornings parents can drop their children off at their classrooms from 8.35am. A member of the Senior Leadership Team will stand at one entrance to the school from 8.35-8.55am. Children can enter school through either school gate as a member of staff will be on duty for the alternate entrance gate.

Registration for all classes is at 8.55am. If children arrive late, parents will need to come through the office foyer and children will be sent to their classroom whilst parents will be asked to complete the late book.

Collecting Children

At the end of the day children are collected from outside their classrooms. Parents/guardians gather outside the school just before 3pm at the same entrance gate as used in the morning.  The gate is opened just before 3pm. . Key Stage 1 and Reception children will be dismissed at 3pm and Key Stage 2 children will be dismissed at 3.15pm.

Children are not allowed to leave their class until the teacher sees the parent/guardian collecting them.

Opening Times

The school office opens from 8.30am to 3.30pm. If you require to contact outside of these hours, please do so by email or leave a voicemail on the school's contact number.

Children attend school from 8.55am to 3.00pm for EYFS and KS1 and 8.55am to 3.15pm for KS2. This equates to 30 hours and 25 minutes for EYFS and KS1 and 31hours and 40 minutes for KS2.

Parking

It is predictably busy outside the school when children are dropped off and collected.  Please NEVER park or wait in your car on the yellow zig-zag lines outside the school. Parking there puts children in great danger as they cannot see oncoming traffic from the school entrance.

If staff need to attend a meeting straight after school or at the start of the school day, they must be able to move their cars. Because of this the car parking in the school is for the staff and should only be used by parents in an emergency.

The vicarage car park can be used by parents, at collection times and when attending school events. It provides safe parking being on the same side of the road as the school (next to the church).

Playtime

Playtime is at 10.20am for Years 1,2 and 3 and 10.40am for Years 4,5 and 6 and lasts 15 minutes. Two members of staff supervise playtime. The children play outside at playtime unless it is raining. In the case of intermittent, light Spring or Autumn drizzle we like the children to go out so please ensure they have a coat in school as part of their uniform.

Sweets, chocolates, fizzy drinks or crisps are not allowed at playtime or lunchtime.

No nuts or products containing nuts are allowed in school at any time.

The school provides fruit in the morning and afternoon for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. From Year 3 children are allowed to bring in one piece of fruit for breaktime if they wish to. Children should bring a named water bottle to school every day which they can drink in class or on the playground. These bottles are to contain water only, NO fruit juice or squash please.

In the Reception class your child will receive free milk in school until their 5th birthday.

Lunch Time

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to free school dinners. Menus are sent home to you each term so you can talk to your child about the meals they will be having.

Starting school is often an ideal time to encourage your child to be more adventurous with trying new foods.

Your child’s class teacher and teaching assistant will go into the dinner hall with the children to encourage them to try new foods, to use a knife and fork correctly and to help them to enjoy eating together as a class.

There is a section for you to complete on the Admission Form about any allergies or dietary requirements your child may have.

Lunchtime lasts from 11.45am until 12.45pm for the Reception children and from 12.15pm to 1.15pm for all other children
