Entrance Foyer/School office
The entrance foyer /school office is at the front of the main school building and is sign posted. The door to the foyer is locked for security reasons but there is a buzzer on the door. Please allow a few moments for the door to be answered.
To ease parking in the mornings parents can drop their children off at their classrooms from 8.40am. Mrs Bradley stands at one entrance to the school from 8.40-9.00am. The children in Nursery, Reception and Years 3 and 4 enter school through this gate. Year 1 and 2 enter through a different gate manned by another staff member.
Registration for all classes is at 8.55am. If children arrive late, parents will need to come through the office foyer and children will be sent to their classroom whilst parents will be asked to complete the late book.
At the end of the day children are collected from outside their classrooms. Parents/guardians gather outside the school just before 3pm at the same entrance gate as used in the morning. The gate is opened just before 3pm. Reception are collected round the back of their classroom (by the playground) through their picket gate.
Children are not allowed to leave their class until the teacher sees the parent/guardian collecting them. In the ‘Consent Forms’ section there is a form for you to list adults you authorise to collect your child.
It is predictably busy outside the school when children are dropped off and collected. Please NEVER park or wait in your car on the yellow zig-zag lines outside the school. Parking there puts children in great danger as they cannot see oncoming traffic from the school entrance.
If staff need to attend a meeting straight after school or at the start of the school day, they must be able to move their cars. Because of this the car parking in the school is for the staff and should only be used by parents in an emergency.
The vicarage car park can be used by parents, at collection times and when attending school events. It provides safe parking being on the same side of the road as the school (next to the church).
Playtime is at 10.45am and lasts 15 minutes. Two members of staff supervise playtime. The children play outside at playtime unless it is raining. In the case of intermittent, light Spring or Autumn drizzle we like the children to go out so please ensure they have a navy cagoule in school as part of their uniform.
Sweets, chocolates, fizzy drinks or crisps are not allowed at playtime or lunchtime.
No hard sweets, no nuts or products containing nuts are allowed in school at any time.
The school provides fruit in the morning and afternoon for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. From Year 3 children are allowed to bring in one piece of fruit for breaktime if they wish to. Children should bring a named water bottle to school every day which they can drink in class or on the playground. These bottles are to contain water only, NO fruit juice or squash please.
In the Reception class your child will receive free milk in school until their 5th birthday.
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to free school dinners. Menus are sent home to you each term so you can talk to your child about the meals they will be having.
We are aware that some children can be fussy eaters so please speak to your child’s class teacher or to Mrs Bradley if you have concerns about your child having a school dinner. However, starting school is often an ideal time to encourage your child to be more adventurous with trying new foods.
Your child’s class teacher and teaching assistant will go into the dinner hall with the children to encourage them to try new foods, to use a knife and fork correctly and to help them to enjoy eating together as a class.
There is a section for you to complete on the Admission Form about any allergies or dietary requirements your child may have.
Lunchtime lasts from 12.00 noon until 1.00pm for the Reception children, from 12.15pm to 1.15pm for Years 1 and 2 and from 12.15 – 1.00pm for Years 3 and 4. Each class has a named midday supervisor.
