Our Nursery Routine


Morning Arrival

Please arrive via the Nursery decking area, where a member of staff will welcome your child and take them to wash their hands before entering the Nursery. Parents are unfortunately not permitted to enter the Nursery during this time.


Signing in Self-registration (L) Name cards and children can start with writing their name on scrap paper/white boards or black boards.

Free play for all children

9:10 – 9:15

Bell sounds – carpet time.

  Circle time: - (This must be structured and consistently practiced every day) Morning register (PSED), days of the week, visual calendar (UW, M), what’s available in the nursery – visual dairy (PSED), group discussions (CL)    Children must be encouraged to put their hands up when they want to speak (turn taking, respect). Turn taking is important. Anything new must be introduced in morning circle time to the children.  Art activity, messy play, sand and water. singing, poems, story time. – allow little ones to stand if they want with blocking view of others even to play quietly or look at books.


Learning through play/ organised group work / one to one / outdoor play.


Tidy up time. Carpet time – show and tell / story / songs  

If younger children are engaged in an activity allow them to continue quietly where they can still listen.


Prepare for lunch. Toilet and was hands


Go across to the hall for lunch. Afternoon children arrive.


Home time for morning children. Play calming music/ watch a short educational film during dismissal of morning children.


Learning through play/ organised group work / one to one / outdoor play.


Tidy up time / carpet time – show and tell / songs


Home time for all.
