Lyne & Longcross is a school for infant aged children (4 to 7 year olds) for both boys and girls.

Our school has 3 classes: Ladybirds, Dolphins and Sunflowers with up to 30 children in each. Our policy is to maintain a good adult to child ratio. Teachers in each class are supported by classroom assistants at all times. We believe that there is a strong link between a child's confidence and sense of security and his or her ability to learn.

Our Aims:

For children to develop:

Faith in themselves - in their abilities as literate, numerate, creative learners achieving high standards.

Faith in others – a certainty that members of the school community will provide support, friendship and trust.

An understanding of the Christian Faith which is central to our school.

Our small, family like environment, places us in an ideal position to get to know each child well, to build a knowledge of their interests and strengths, an understanding of their emotions and personalities, so that we can use our insight to provide relevant and inspirational learning opportunities.

Children learn in many different ways and we encourage children to develop as creative learners achieving high standards.

The curriculum is carefully planned to promote coverage, continuity and progression while opportunities are actively sought for children to adapt and further activities of particular interest to them. This promotes self-expression and allows the children to be active participants in their education.

Children are also encouraged to build an understanding of one another and feel secure that the whole school community values them.

Because our school is small, all our children have the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular clubs, special events and school productions. Taking part, they gain a heightened sense of self-worth.
